With less river traffic as Autumn arrives, now is the season that fishermen head for the Norfolk Broads to seek the big shoals of bream and roach. Every visitor has a favourite spot, but using a boat as a base has the obvious advantages in that you can fish when you want and where you fancy.
Big shoals of bream and roach are forming on both the Northern and Southern rivers at the moment and as Winter closes in they will soon be heading for the more sheltered spots to be closely followed by the monster pike for which the Broads are famed.
Hire prices are very keen at the moment, but you need to select carefully if you want a boat for a week’s fishing.
To help, we have selected a few boats which are suitable for either a week or a couple of days.
Brinks Aries is just about perfect and has been a favourite with fishermen for some time.
It has a really large aft cockpit with plenty of space and can sleep two to four in comfort.
There is warm air heating should the evenings get chilly and it is very easy to steer and moor and there is a folding canopy to give even more room.
A full week can costs as little as £435.
Brink of Joy has a split sliding canopy over the saloon so you can moor up and not have to leave the boat. It is on a single level, easier if you are carrying rods and other gear and has one single and two double bunks. Like all our boats it has a fully equipped galley and is easy to steer.
Brinks Sonnet is a new design of boat with a sliding canopy over the saloon and this one has bow thrusters making it easier to moor in tight places. There are two double bunks in the saloon and cabin. This also has an electric anchor and winch which is handy if you want to moor and fish in the middle of one of the Broads. This one is available from £600 a week and is a really comfortable boat.
If you just want to take a boat for a couple of days then have a look at our Breakaway Day Boats. These boats are principally for day hire but are equipped for a night on the river with a small cooker, basin and loo. And there is even a fish finder to help you get a decent catch. A two night break on one of these excellent little boats costs just £260, £150 for a single night away.
